Name: Amrine Windmere
Race: Rava Viera
Birthplace: Dravania
Job/Class: Dragoon, Gunbreaker, Botanist
Known Family: Grandmother, Father, Mother, Aunt, Brother
A BeginningAmrine's grandmother felt the call to leave Othard. Choosing exile and becoming an adventurer herself, she settled for a time and found a home in Dalmasca. Here, she gave birth to and raised her two daughters.Amrine's mother also experienced the desire to roam. She hid her desires from her mother and sister, scared that she herself would be exiled. Upon finding out, her mother encouraged her to go but made it clear that she would always be welcome back.Amrine's mother traveled west through Doma and Kugane and made it all the way to Dravania before having to stop to give birth to Amrine. The father of Amrine found his way to Dravania seven years later and they had a second child together, a son named Sincere. Their mother decided to stay in Dravania, and their father continued travelling to work to send back gil and goods and help make sure they were taken care of. He returned every fall and winter when able.Growing up in a home full of Dalmascan and Doman decor and trinkets, Amrine and her brother would venture with their mother into the Dravanian wilds as young as a few days old. She learns at a young age that she can understand and speak with dragons. She picks up the broken lance of a fallen dragoon and does her best to learn to be a lancer with no real targets or desire to kill in mind. Before Amrine reaches the age of eleven, visits and goods from her father stop. Sincere leaves home first by age sixteen.Amrine feels an almost-voice in her mind, calling to her. Now about thirty, she discusses with her mother and brother her own plan to travel. With Sincere keeping an eye out for their father on his travels their mother admits wanting to return to Dalmasca to see her own mother and sister, unaware of the extent of Garlemald's destruction of the nation.â—‡click here for more family loreâ—‡
A Realm RebornAmrine makes her entry into Eorzea proper via Gridania. Previously having a mononym, she chooses Windmere as a last name. While initially wary of the other scions due to being a new adventurer herself and unfamiliar with Eorzeans, Amrine quickly comes to trust Minfilia Warde, having never met another individual with the Echo before. Minfilia's steadfast belief in her goals, her nation, and her people causes Amrine to develop deep feelings for The Antecedent and is certain that these feelings are reciprocated.Amrine's encounter with Midgardsormr was a near-religious experience, a conflicted one between her trust in Hydaelyn and her reverence for the dragon of legend seeing and speaking to her.Amrine decided to wait until the dust settles after saving the world to approach Minfilia with her feelings. Her plan was to talk to her during the Sultana's banquet.
HeavenswardReturning to the north, Amrine trains as a full-fledged proper dragoon as she spends time in Ishgard and her surrounding areas. Between being charged with regicide, losing Minfilia in Ul'Dah, reconnecting with her native Dravania, the Dragonsong War, overcoming Midgardsomnr's challenge, and having existed her whole life in neutrality with dragons, Amrine's life in Heavensward is emotional, conflicted and heavy from the start.Amrine is aware Haurchefaunt has feelings for her, he does little to hide it. She wants to let her heart be open to him, after all he's done to help her but at this point does not yet know Minfilia's fate and is still holding out hope for a reunion. In the meeting between Minfilia, the Scions and the Warriors of Darkness, Amrine leaves the truth of her feelings aside. Through the Echo, they both know they love and loved.
StormbloodAmrine throws herself into focusing on helping Doma, picking up where Minfilia left off and agreeing to use any resource to help Yugiri and her people and in turn help Ala Mhigo. She is not actively trying to die, but Amrine is not trying hard to live, either.Outside of Alphinaud and Alisae, Amrine is emotionally closed off. Her encounters with Zenos yae Galvus are a clear reminder to her that so many people need her to choose to live, and this reality check makes her wake up.After failed negotiations with Asahi sas Brutus and taking out Tsukiyomi, Amrine puts down the lance and picks up the gunblade.
ShadowbringersRight when Amrine is doing better wanting to thrive again and looking forward to the future despite the grim reality of Garlemald looming, the scions start falling one after another. It's only thanks to Krile and Tataru that Amrine keeps any amount of calm over the situation. The relief she feels in Syrcus Tower knowing wherever she is going is where Alisae and Alphinaud are is immense, but short-lived after learning about the Flood of Light.Amrine is uncertain of the Exarch. Happy to be reunited with her fellow scions, but by now she is used to a majority of the group being in on current plans, and the Exarch deviates from that. In the end, she is glad that all trust in the Exarch was well-placed.Amrine is warmer sooner to Mini-filia than Thancred and while she understands his conflict, the two gunbreakers come to blows after she hears how Mini-filia feels. Mini-filia's young age gives enough disconnect for her to keep it together emotionally, and even bond with her similarly to Alphinaud and Alisae. The events of Shadowbringers chips away at the wall around her heart. She sees the consequences of living only for the past, and the monster that rampant grief can become. Upon her return to the Source, Amrine has finally let go of her heaviest regrets.
Endwalker<<CURRENTLY PLAYING ENDWALKER PATCHES, SUBJECT TO CHANGES>>
Amrine forges ahead through everything thrown at her.Much like her time in Stormblood, Amrine is pushed to the emotional brink. She forges through everything thrown at her, but she's hit with challenge she didn't expect to navigate. A villain who means for everyone to die. Garlean civil war. Zenos returning. Sharlayan strictness.Fourchenault's interactions with the twins especially irks her. Amrine and Sincere have yet to confirm if their father is still alive or the reason behind his disapperance. She had always pictured a joyful reunion, but the Leveilleur family gave her the realization that answers found could be devastating.Through her time in Elpis, it seemed so strange-real, so magical. The shiny, beautiful surface violently stripped away by what was normalized. The end of Amrine's time there snuck up on her, the realization bringing her to tears, returning to her time filled with equal parts devestation and determination. The memory of clinging to white robes felt burned into her soul.At that far edge of fate, having let go of the guilt and regret of her past choices,
Amrine lets herself,
after all her trials,
for just one selfish minute,
take this fleeting moment,
and be wanted.Post-Endwalker, Amrine picks up the scythe. Delirious from the events of Endwalker, she makes a pact with a voidscent. To her shock, the voidscent calls her by her mother's name.
